![]() ![]() At the time, Bruce Banner’s alter-ego was rocking his grey skin as Joe Fixit, while the Danny Ketch Ghost Rider was blazing a trail in the Marvel Universe. She then assumed the form of Susan Richards and played the grieving widow as she recruited a dream team of Marvel heroes: Spider-Man, Wolverine, Hulk, and Ghost Rider. He’s also very cool - the jacket is a great look and Luna wears it well.In FANTASTIC FOUR (1961) #347, Simonson and Adams introduced the Skrull villainess, De'lila, who used her shapeshifting and telepathic abilities to either seduce or entrap the entire FF. He brings the same seductive intensity we saw in Rev-9, but with an uncertainty to his actions that comes from his character’s humanity and commitment to his younger brother. It’s not always easy to play a character whose main role in the narrative is to provide room for the protagonist to grow, but Luna was able to deepen what could have been a shallow character with his righteous anger, serious eyes and deep sense of care for his brother. That’s all fine and dandy, but Luna is the one who brings Robbie to life. Robbie’s arc as a very violent vigilante fits well with what was also going on in the show at the time - protagonist Quake is also on the run as a (less violent) vigilante, and their different approaches to justice give the show a bit more to hang its hat on. In the show, Robbie is a mechanic who was killed by gang members and brought back to life by Ghost Rider, and now works as an assassin vigilante protecting his brother, who was paralyzed in the incident. In the comics, Robbie is the fifth Ghost Rider (and very different from Johnny Blaze played by Nicolas Cage) and is the version of the character that appears in the recently released Marvel’s Midnight Suns. One of those swings was Gabriel Luna’s introduction of Robbie Reyes in season 4. What the series lacked in cohesion, it made up for with quirky character arcs and story beats - sure there are moments like Season 1’s big twist, but as the seasons went on (and the series diverged further and further from the MCU), it was willing to makes some bigger changes. While it doesn’t rank high on the ranking list of MCU shows, Agents of SHIELD is probably my favorite Marvel show because of how weird it was willing to get. My favorite character Gabriel Luna remains his turn as Robbie Reyes/Ghost Rider in his first part Agents of SHIELD Season 4 though. You can see it here during a car chase, as the Rev-9 exoskeleton stays in the truck to continue the chase while the Rev-9 liquid metal is launched forward to attack. Rev-9 has the usual scary elements of most good Terminators – super strength, super speed, shape-shifting, complete lack of care about how many people he kills – with an added twist: Rev-9 can split his liquid metal and exoskeleton parts of his body into two separate units, essentially replicating himself when he needs two Rev-9s. Luna was the wickedly entertaining main antagonist of the otherwise forgettable Dark fate, called “Rev-9”. And this is a good time to remind you that it was the better part of two other flawed franchises that had their moments: Terminator: Dark Fate and Agents of SHIELD season 4. It was good to see Tommy again, because actor Gabriel Luna is a talented performer who we don’t see enough of (his sudden reaction His wife telling him that they live in a commune, and are therefore communists, is one of the highlights of the episode). It was an emotional reunion - while the two brothers hadn’t seen each other in a long time, they started fighting almost immediately, with Joel bitter at Tommy for being uncommunicative yet seemingly happy. ![]() ![]() Episode 6 of The last of us saw Pedro Pascal’s Joel reunite with his long-lost brother in a Wyoming community, completing the impatience part of Joel’s journey. ![]()
